2003 NLCS, Game 7: Marlins @ Cubs

Florida Marlins 9 at Chicago Cubs 6, F — The Series ending Game 7 starting off poorly for the Chicago Cubs, who were still reeling for a devastating Game 6. Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood allowed three runs to score for the Marlins in the first inning. But the Cubs rebounded in the 2nd inning to tie the game 3-3, before taking the lead in the third inning with two more runs. But the Marlins offense overwhelmed the Cubs when they scored six more runs in the next three innings. Cubs pinch-hitter Troy O’Leary scored the final run for the Cubs with a home run in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 9-6. Marlins pitcher Ugueth Urbina would close out the ninth, giving the Marlins their second National League Pennant in their eleven-year existence.
