In 1987, Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly tied Dale Long’s MLB record by hitting home runs in eight consecutive games! From July 8th to the 18th (the All-Star game occurred in the middle of the streak), Mattingly took the baseball world by storm. He would hit 10 home runs during those eight games. The record would later be tied by Ken Griffey Jr. in 1993.
