Furious Detroit Tigers’ Ron Gardenhire, Cameron Maybin ejected against Indians

Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire and outfielder Cameron Maybin have been ejected from Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Indians.

Gardenhire was ejected for the first time this season, and for the 85th time in his career, in the third inning after he argued with umpires following a ground-rule double by Jeimer Candelario to right field.

Initially, Candelario hit a triple that scored Miguel Cabrera for a 4-3 lead. But the ball got stuck under the right field fence padding. Umpires ruled it a ground-rule double and Cabrera was ordered back to third, negating the run.

Maybin was ejected after he hit into a double play to end the fifth inning. He yelled at home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn and had to be restrained by bench coach Lloyd McClendon.
