Detroit Tigers call up top prospects and fans finally have reason to be excited

Get ready Detroit Tigers fans: The prospects are here. 

Well, the first wave, anyway. 

The Tigers on Monday called up three of their top-six prospects for their major league debuts this week. 

Isaac Paredes, the No. 6 player in the organization, will start at third base Monday in Chicago against the White Sox. 

Tarik Skubal, a powerful lefty who is ranked No. 5, will start Tuesday’s game. 

And Casey Mize, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2018 draft, will start Wednesday.

I can feel your excitement building.

Not only because Monday’s news has been a few years in the making, or because the Tigers were the worst team in baseball last season. 

But also because social media was abuzz and, dare we say, hope that the Tigers are taking the first big step to turning the corner.
