Detroit Tigers third baseman Isaac Paredes picked up his first big-league hit in his MLB debut Monday against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.
And it came in a critical moment of the game.
Trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning, Paredes dropped a single into left field with the bases loaded to score Miguel Cabrera and Jonathan Schoop, cutting the Tigers’ deficit to one.
One of three prospects called up Monday, the 21-year-old started at third base and batted No. 8 in the order.

Paredes played 127 games for Double-A Erie last season, hitting .282 with 13 home runs and 66 RBIs. In 424 career minor-league games, he registered 93 doubles, six triples, 40 homers and 232 RBIs with a .274 average.
