The Detroit Tigers used an eight-run eighth inning to cap off a wild comeback victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. We would normally use a word like “thrilling” to describe what happened, but the Tigers’ big inning featured seven (!) walks and a hit batter, with only three hits.
In the middle of all that carnage was possibly the most spring training play we have seen all spring training.
Remarkably, no runs or outs were recorded on that play. MLB Gameday does not recognize this… thing as anything more than “ball two” (or whatever it was). Were it not for the above video, we would not even know of this magical 30-ish seconds of baseball at its absolute weirdest.
