The Detroit Tigers will play the final two games of a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday after rain postponed Wednesday night’s contest at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. The teams are scheduled for straight seven-inning doubleheader Thursday, beginning at 5:10 p.m. with Game 1.
The Tigers (8-16) picked up a 5-2 victory Tuesday in the first game of the series behind a gritty seven-inning start from Jose Urena. The win snapped a five-game losing streak, and nine losses in a row against the White Sox.
Right-hander Casey Mize will start Game 1 of the doubleheader, followed by lefty Matthew Boyd in Game 2. For the White Sox, left-hander Carlos Rodon is opposing Mize, while righty Dylan Cease clashes with Boyd in the finale.
After completing the series with the White Sox, Detroit will take on the New York Yankees (Friday-Sunday) and Boston Red Sox (Tuesday-Thursday) to complete a nine-game road trip.
