Toledo Mud Hens 3, Louisville Bats 2 (F/10)(box)
Like their parent club, the Hens pulled out a victory in a bullpen game on Thursday, but it was a close run thing. In the third inning, Christin Stewart walked, took third on a Chris Proctor single, and scored on a Zack Short ground out. No further runs would cross home until the ninth.
Wladimir Pinto started this one and went 2 2⁄3 scoreless innings with two hits and two walks allowed. He struck out three. Drew Carlton allowed just two baserunners in 2 1⁄3 innings, followed by two scoreless from Buck Farmer and one from Angel de Jesus. Robbie Ross Jr. took over and blew the save in the ninth, with a pair of one out walks setting the Bats up to tie the game. Ross Jr. allowed a two-out double in the top of the tenth to score the runner starting at second, but held them to that one run.
In the bottom of the inning, Aderlin Rodriguez led off with a double to plate Yariel Gonzalez from second. Jacob Robson bounced into a fielder’s choice, with the Bats cutting down Rodriguez at third. Robson then stole second, Dustin Garneau and Stewart walked, and after Proctor grounded into a force play that cut down Robson at home, Short was hit by a pitch for a somewhat anti-climactic walkoff win that brings the Hens back to a .500 record.

Erie SeaWolves 3, Somerset Patriots 2 (F/10)(box)
Like the Hens, the SeaWolves needed 10 innings to win on Thursday night, and did so in walkoff fashion. Paul Richan got the start in this one, and tossed 4 2⁄3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts to just three hits and a walk allowed. Billy Lescher came on for four outs, but allowed a pair of runs in the sixth to give the Patriots the first lead of the game. Brad Bass took over for three scoreless frames to keep the SeaWolves in the fight. Eventually they broke through to tie things in the eighth. Kerry Carpenter led off with a single and rode home on Josh Lester’s sixth home run of the year. Mark Leiter Jr. held serve in the top of the 10th with a strong inning. He struck out two with one out and a runner on third to turn the Bats away, while Dylan Rosa’s RBI single to score Carpenter from second was the game winner.

West Michigan Whitecaps 10, Lansing Lugnuts 0 (box)
The ‘Caps stomped the Lugnuts in this one. Starter Brendan White, and relievers Zack Shepherd and Chavez Fernander blanked them on four hits and two walks, with White punching out seven in his four innings of work, but the story was obviously the offense.
Daniel Cabrera, Reynaldo Rivera, and Jose King combined for eight RBI in this one. Spencer Torkelson and Dillon Dingler each had three hits, including a double apiece. Torkeson also walked twice, reaching base five times in five plate appearances. SS Trei Cruz had a single and a walk in his third game back since returning from the IL.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Lakeland Flying Tigers 1 (box)
Jays pitching was tough in this one. Starter Sem Robberse allowed one run with seven strikeouts in five innings of work, and his relief was just as good. The Flying Tigers managed just two hits—both from Gage Workman—and two walks, one of which was also Workman’s. Their lone run gave them the lead briefly, as Workman tripled with one out in the bottom of the first and scored on a wild pitch. Beyond that, there was little to report. Gio Arriera went 4 1⁄3 innings in his start for Lakeland, but allowed three runs to take the loss.
