Tuesday’s DET-CLE rained out; twin bill Wed.

Detroit Tigers

CLEVELAND — For the second time in five days, the Tigers have been rained out. This time, the news came right before they were about to begin the middle game of their series against the Indians at Progressive Field. They’ll instead play a straight doubleheader on Wednesday to wrap up their short road trip.

First pitch for the twin bill is set for 4:10 p.m. ET. Both games will be scheduled for seven innings, with Game 2 starting shortly after Game 1 ends.

Both starters were finishing their warmup routines in the bullpens and position players were stretching on the field around 7 p.m. when rain picked up in Cleveland, forcing the grounds crew to bring out the tarp. The teams remained in the dugout, hoping for a short delay, but rain persisted longer than expected as a weather system crept across the area.

José Ureña will stay on turn and start Game 1 of the doubleheader for the Tigers, followed by Wily Peralta. It’ll be Peralta’s second doubleheader outing, having started Game 2 of last Saturday’s twin bill against the Astros at Comerica Park.
