Toledo Mud Hens 2, Omaha Storm Chasers 0 (box)
After a tough loss on Tuesday night, the Hens pitching staff came through with a fantastic performance to carry them on Wednesday night. Ricardo Pinto went seven innings, allowing just four hits and two walks, with six strikeouts. Angel De Jesus picked up where Pinto left off, spinning two perfect frames with three punchouts of his own. Omaha’s staff didn’t exactly fold up shop either, as the Hens managed eight hits but couldn’t string anything together. Instead they rode solo shots by Yariel Gonzalez in the fifth and JaCoby Jones in the seventh to victory.

Somerset Patriots 6, Erie SeaWolves 1 (Gm 1)(F/7)(box)
Game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader in New Jersey didn’t go the SeaWolves way. Josh Lester lifted a solo shot, his 10th of the year, for their only run. Spencer Torkelson doubled, while Andre Lipcius singled in the contest, but otherwise there wasn’t much to report. Starter Chance Kirby was roughed up by the Patriots, allowing three runs in four innings of work, while Max Green allowed a three run shot in the fifth to put this one out of reach.
Erie SeaWolves 4, Somerset Patriots 3 (Gm 2)(F/7)(box)
The SeaWolves got out to an early lead on a Spencer Torkelson solo shot in the first inning. Another mammoth blast, the ball carried over the batter’s eye in straightaway center field for his sixth home run with the SeaWolves and 11th overall on the season. Starter Chavez Fernander crumbled in the middle innings, allowing three runs, but the SeaWolves fought back with a three run sixth inning to win it. The big blow was a three run shot by Drew Ward with Ryan Kreidler and Andre Lipcius aboard. Joe Navilhon shut the Patriots down after their outburst, while Gerson Moreno picked up his sixth save with a clean seventh inning.

Dayton Dragons 6, West Michigan Whitecaps 5 (box)
Starter Brendan White was hit hard in this one, and a push for a comeback fell a bit short on Wednesday. White allowed six earned runs in three innings of work, but the bullpen did lock it down from there to give their teammates a chance. They got on the board in the second, as Reynaldo Rivera double scored Daniel Cabrera. In the fourth, Andrew Navigato and Parker Meadows each went yard with solo home runs. Meadows’ was his first of the season. The ‘Caps chipped away more of the Dragons’ lead in the fifth on a Bryant Packard RBI double, and Meadows scored in the sixth on a Jose King ground out. Unfortunately, the Dragons bullpen recorded nine straight outs to shut down any further chances.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 7, Palm Beach Cardinals 6 (box)
After giving up a four run first inning, including a leadoff home run from the Cardinals Masyn Winn, the Flying Tigers stormed back with three home runs and a walkoff single to win on Wednesday night. Kingston Liniak and Nick Quintana homered in the first and second innings, respectively, each with no one on base. Trei Cruz tied things at six with a solo shot to lead off the ninth inning, but it was Colt Keith who had the biggest night. Keith racked up three hits, and his ninth inning single was the game winner, scoring Alvaro Gonzalez for the walkoff winner.
