Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates postponed due to rain; doubleheader set for Wednesday

Detroit Free Press

The Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates postponed Tuesday’s game, scheduled for 7:10 p.m., because of inclement weather at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Tuesday’s postponed game will be made up as the second game of a straight nine-inning doubleheader Wednesday, beginning at 1:10 p.m. The doubleheader starts a stretch of 17 games in 15 days.

Rainfall began in the early afternoon and is expected to continue throughout the night. The grounds crew had the tarp on the field well before the game was officially postponed at 3:06 p.m.

For Wednesday’s doubleheader, right-hander Michael Pineda is starting Game 1 and righty Alex Faedo is starting Game 2. Faedo, the No. 18 overall pick in 2017, will make his MLB debut.

Because the game will be a straight doubleheader, tickets for Tuesday’s postponed game will not be honored on Wednesday. The tickets for Tuesday can be exchanged for any game over the next 12 months except Opening Day.
