Game notes: The Tigers won beat the Rays on Monday behind rookie hurler Alex Faedo. Tampa has won three of its past four series, while Detroit swept its first series of the season last week.

Tuesday another youngster will take the mound for the Tigers, with Brieske making his fifth career start. His last time out, he allowed three runs (two earned) with two strikeouts in six innings vs. Oakland.

The Rays counter with McClanahan, a 2018 first-round pick, who’s been terrific since debuting last season. He has a 3.21 ERA through 32 career starts with 199 strikeouts in just over 162 innings. In five of his seven starts in 2022, he’s given up two runs or fewer. He was a hard-luck loser vs. Wily Peralta the Tigers last season allowing one run in five innings and striking out seven.

The teams finish the series with at 1:10 p.m. start Wednesday then the Tigers get a long-awaited day off.
