Game notes:  The Tigers were shut out Tuesday vs. the Twins and will try to avoid the sweep. Garcia will open things for the Tigers. He struck out six, walked one and allowed one hit — a home run — in 2⅔ innings vs. the Tampa Bay Rays on May 18. He’s ceded two runs in 7⅔ innings this month.

The No. 4 pick in the 2011 draft, Bundy pitched three scoreless innings May 17, his first start returning from nearly two weeks away because of COVID-19. He needed 54 pitches to do so, though. He’s making his fifth career start vs. the Tigers, with a 4.70 ERA in 23 innings. Last year, in two starts with the Los Angeles Angles, Bundy had two no-decisions vs. Detroit, allowing four runs (three earned) in 8⅔ innings and striking out five.

The Tigers move on to face the Cleveland Guardians for the second time in a week, this time at home. The Twins stay in Minnesota to host the Kansas City Royals.
