Guardians-Tigers PPD on Fri.; twin bill July 4

Detroit Tigers

DETROIT — For the second time in a week, rain has postponed the Tigers and Guardians, this time on Friday at Comerica Park.

The two teams will make up the game as part of a split doubleheader on Monday, July 4. The originally scheduled game will begin at 1:10 p.m. ET, with the makeup game starting at 6:40 p.m. ET. All tickets for Friday’s game can be used for the second game, or can be exchanged for any future same-priced ticket for a home game within the next 12 months, not including the 2023 home opener.

Both teams pushed back their starters from Friday. Tigers rookie Alex Faedo and Cleveland ace Shane Bieber will start on Saturday in a 4:10 p.m. ET contest. Elvin Rodriguez will start for Detroit opposite Triston McKenzie in Sunday’s series finale at 1:40 p.m. ET.

The July 4 doubleheader means the Tigers will play 19 games in 17 days in four different cities before the All-Star break. That includes doubleheaders on consecutive Mondays against the Guardians (July 4) and the Royals (July 11) in Kansas City.
