SEEING GREENE: Scout’s daughter helped Detroit Tigers get insight on Riley Greene every other team missed

WATCH THE MOMENT: Detroit Tigers’ Riley Greene gets first hit in first MLB at-bat, Saturday vs. Texas

Game notes: In his major-league debut, Riley Greene put a jolt into the Tigers offense with his bat, and everybody else. In Saturday 14-7 victory over the Rangers, the Tigers cranked out *19* hits. Maybe the Tigers need to loan out Greene to the other struggling pro franchises in the city?

As for today’s contest, there’s a pair of right-handers on the mound at Comerica Park. Drew Hutchison is still searching for that elusive first win in 2022. Through 11 outings (three starts), Hutchison has struck out 16 batters and walked 14, which is not really the ratio you want. Last season, it only took Hutchinson just three outings to collect his first victory of the season, albeit in relief. Hutchison hasn’t won a big-league game he started since Aug. 17, 2018, when he was a member of the Texas Rangers.

Tigers lineup: TBA.
