TOLEDO – The Toledo Mud Hounds defeated the Louisville Bats 3-2 on Tuesday night at Fifth Third Field.

Brendon Davis led the Mud Hounds offensively going 1-4, with a go-ahead home run and three RBI. Akil Baddoo and Kerry Carpenter each picked up two hits, Baddoo with a double and single, and Carpenter with two singles. Josh Lester, Zack Short, and Dustin Garneau each also tallied a hit in the Mud Hounds victory.

Elvin Rodriguez got the start for the Mud Hounds, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing one run on seven hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Ricardo Pinto came in for relief, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one hit and one strikeout. Luis Castillo picked up the win in relief, pitching 1.0 inning, striking out all three batters he faced on 12 pitches. Castillo is now 3-1 on the season. Bryan Garcia came in and pitched 0.1 inning, allowing one run on one hit and two walks. Garcia recorded his 7th hold in his outing. Derek Law came in and recorded the five out save. Law pitched 1.2 innings, setting down all five batters he faced, striking out three in the process. Law’s outing ended with his 15th save of the season.

What’s Next: The Toledo Mud Hens will play host to the Louisville Bats for game two of the six game series, with first pitch coming at 12:05 pm.
