Matt Manning made what may be his best rehab start yet. Manning stymied the Indians, spinning 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Sam Howard pitched 1.1 innings
TOLEDO – The Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Indianapolis Indians 3-0 on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field.
Matt Manning made what may be his best rehab start yet. Manning stymied the Indians, spinning 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Sam Howard pitched 1.1 innings of stellar relief, only allowing one hit and picking up his fourth hold. Luis Castillo also pitched 1.0 inning of relief, only allowing one hit. Wily Peralta made his first rehab outing since suffering a hamstring injury on July 5th in a game between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians. Peralta picked up his first save of the season, pitching 1.0 inning and allowing two hits.
Derek Hill led the way offensively, collecting two of the three Mud Hens hits, and both RBI on the evening. Hill went 2-3 with a double and a single. Daz Cameron picked up the only other Mud Hens hit on the evening. Brendon Davis, Jamie Westbrook, and John Valente each scored a run and drew a walk.
What’s Next: The Toledo Mud Hens will host the Indianapolis Indians for game three of a six game series on Thursday night, with first pitch coming at 7:05 pm.
