Detroit Tigers ‘excited to get going’ as pitchers and catchers report to spring training 2025

Detroit Free Press
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch spoke with reporters Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, on the first day of spring training in Lakeland, Florida. He said despite the team’s roaring second half that led to a playoff appearance, the Tigers will look to “turn the page” to the 2025 season.

“We’ve made a lot of additions, and we’ve got to look forward,” Hinch said. “The standings are 0-0 for a reason.”

The 2024 Tigers went 39-26 after the All-Star Game before squeaking into the postseason as the American League’s final wildcard team. Heading into 2025, the Tigers added second baseman Gleyber Torres in free agency, as well as pitchers Jack Flaherty, Alex Cobb and Tommy Kahnle.
