During Black in Baseball Weekend, the Tigers will feature Joe Louis Southern Kitchen at Comerica Park, serving their famous shrimp & grits, bread pudding and french toast sticks.

Joe Louis Barrow II, Joe Louis’ son, and Johnny Cannon are co-CEOs of Joe Louis Ventures and the Joe Louis Southern Kitchen that serves Detroiters while paying homage to the legendary boxing champion and his love for community and food. A new location opens soon in Downtown Detroit, a stone’s throw from the ballpark.

“Being a part of Black in Baseball means representation. It took us a long time to get here but now that we are I hope that people will continue to support initiatives like this because the truth is every child deserves to be able to dream every dream every day and I don’t think that happens unless they see themselves in the dreams of others.”
