Baddoo, Tigers claw back for fifth straight victory

Detroit Tigers

ST. LOUIS — Akil Baddoo doubled in Jonathan Schoop in the top of the 10th inning as the Tigers defeated the Cardinals 6-5 on Saturday for their fifth straight victory.

Baddoo drove the ball the opposite way and over the head of St. Louis left fielder Alec Burleson.

Detroit scored three runs in the seventh inning on Friday night to rally for its fourth consecutive victory and rallied again on Saturday for another victory. The Tigers hit St. Louis on the heels of a three-game sweep of the New York Mets earlier in the week in Detroit.

Detroit tied the game in the fifth inning when Eric Haase and Riley Greene delivered with RBI singles. The Tigers also took advantage of some miscommunication when Haase scored on a shallow popup after second baseman Brendan Donovan and right fielder Lars Nootbaar collided.
