West Michigan Whitecaps Negro League Appreciation Night 2023

West Michigan Whitecaps
The Negro League broke barriers, and its roots run deep in Grand Rapids. The Black Sox were a Grand Rapids based Negro League team in the 1940s and 50s. The team saw its share of talent come through and helped change the game of baseball forever. We want to honor everything they did for baseball and the city of Grand Rapids. $1 from every ticket sold for our game on Thursday, June 29, as well as proceeds from our jersey auction and 50/50 raffle, will go to the Urban League of West Michigan. Our goal is to help them in their mission: providing the means to empower African Americans and other minorities to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, and civil rights. These efforts will directly impact the Urban League’s addition of youth sports activities, including baseball. | Presented By Priority Health
