Somerset jumped in front with six runs in the third inning against Austin Bergner. T.J. Rumfield scored Trey Sweeney on a double to make it 1-0. Later, Mickey Gasper blasted a three-run home run. Jeisson Rosario followed with a solo shot to make it 5-0. With Sweeney batting for the second time in the frame, a wild pitch scored Max Burt with the sixth run of the frame.

Daniel Cabrera got the Howlers on the board in the fifth inning when he blasted a solo home run. It was his first home run of the season.

Brady Allen knocked Somerset starter Richard Fitts out of the game in the sixth when he drove a two-run home run to make it 7-3. It was Allen’s first Double-A hit and home run. Erie would score once more in that sixth against reliever Bailey Dees on Jace Jung’s bases-loaded walk.

Ben Rice got a run back for Somerset by hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth against Bryce Tassin, making it 8-4.

Erie made it 8-5 when Jake Holton scored on Rice’s passed ball.

Fitts (10-5) earned the win. Bergner (6-1) was the losing pitcher. Liranzo earned his first save.

Erie begins the final homestand of the regular season against Richmond on Tuesday at 6:05 with Brant Hurter opposing Carson Seymour.
