Somerset Comes From Behind Late to Win in Extras

Somerset broke through first in the second against Ty Madden when Mickey Gaspar hit a solo home run to make it 1-0.

Erie came from behind with two out in the fifth on a two-run home run by Ben Malgeri, which gave Erie a 2-1 lead.

The SeaWolves tacked on an insurance run in the seventh. They loaded the bases with no out and plated a run on Danny Serretti’s RBI groundout. Erie led 3-1.

Andrew Magno entered with a runner on third and two out in the eighth. He threw a wild pitch, which made the game 3-2 as Ben Rice scored from third.

Rice came through in the clutch in the ninth against Magno. With two out, he hit a tying double to force extras at 3-3.

In the 11th, Rice had his fourth hit of the game. It was a walk-off single against RJ Petit to give Somerset the win.

Petit (2-4) took the loss. Ryan Anderson (2-1) earned the win in relief.

The series continues on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
