Toledo Negro League Baseball

Toledo Mud Hens
Did you know that Toledo had three baseball teams that were part of the Negro National League? The first team was the 1923 Toledo Tigers. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of this team, we’re hosting a special Toledo Tigers Night on Saturday, September 16.

This celebration is also part of MiLB’s Black community-focused outreach platform The Nine. Named after Jackie Robinson’s number while with the Triple-A Montreal Royals, The Nine honors the historic impact of Black baseball pioneers, provides new opportunities for youth participation, and embraces the millions of passionate fans in MiLB communities nationwide.
