The Toledo Mud Hens drop their fifth straight game against the Indianapolis Indians 9-5 in Toledo.

Starting on the mound for the Mud Hens was Garrett Hill. Hill entered the game with a 1-1 record and 3.09 ERA. Hill worked around a two out single by striking out the next batter. Hill got all three outs in the first inning via the strikeout.

In the bottom of the first inning Parker Meadows lead off the game with a leadoff single, Andre Lipcius then singled up the middle and Justyn Henry-Malloy challenged a pitch that went in his favor for a walk and the Mud Hens had bases loaded with no outs. Tyler Nevindrew a bases-loaded walk to score Meadows for the games first run. Later in the inning Andrew Knapp hit a ground ball to the second basemen that plated another Mud Hen run to grow the lead to 2-1. The starter for the Indians Kent Emanuel got out of the inning after giving up just two runs.

Chris Owings of the Indianapolis Indians took it upon himself to get the Indians on the board after hitting a solo home run out to center field to cut the Mud Hens lead in half and make it a 2-1 ball game.

The Mud Hens were unable to respond in the bottom in the second. In the top of the third inning Chavez Young lead off with a double to left-centerfield to put himself in scoring position with no outs. Endy Rodriguez walked with one out in the inning then Josh Palacios hit a single to score Young and tie the game at two with runners on the corners. With two outs in the inning Aaron Shackelford drew a two out walk to load up the bases. That marked the end of Garrett Hill’s day. Hill was replaced by Jake Higginbotham. With two outs Chris Owings hit a 2-RBI single to give Indianapolis the lead.

Andre Lipcius got the Mud Hens going in the bottom of third inning after hitting a leadoff double. Tyler Nevin then hit a RBI double to score Lipcius and cut the Indians lead down to 4-3. The Mud Hens bats stood hot as Jonathan Davis then hit a singled to left fired to knot the game up at 4-4. That marked the end of Emanuel’s day, the Indians decided to go to Hunter Stratton and he worked his way out of the inning keeping the game tied at four.

Higginbotham got himself into some trouble in the top of fourth inning. Higginbotham walked the first batter he faced on four pitches then the next batter was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs. Higginbotham was able to work his way out of the inning by retiring the next three batters in a row and escaped the inning, keeping the Indians off the board.

Pitching In the bottom of the fourth inning for the Indians was Eli Villalobos. In the inning the first three Mud Hen batters all reached base via the walk. With the bases loaded and no outs Villalobos recorded a soft liner to the second basemen for an out, a strikeout and with two outs Indians third baseman Josh Bissonette made a diving play keep the game Mud Hens off the board and escape the bases-loaded no out jam.

Brendan White entered the game in fifth inning for the Mud Hens. The Indians jumped on White immediately after Ryan Vilade and Aaron Shackelford hit back-to-back home runs and give Indianapolis a 6-4 lead.

J.C. Flowers entered the game the game for the Indians in bottom of the fifth inning and recorded the first two outs quickly. After recording those two outs, Micheal Papierski launched a solo home run over the right field wall to cut the Indians lead down 6-5 after one.

White continued to pitch into the sixth inning. With a runner on second and one out, an infield single hit by Josh Palacios and a throwing error allowed another Indianapolis Indian to cross home plate and score a run and make it. 7-5 Indians lead.

J.C. Flowers retired the bottom of the sixth inning in order keeping the two-run lead headed into the seventh inning.

Layne Henderson entered the game for the Mud Hens in the seventh inning trying to preserve the two-run deficit. A walk and a Chris Owings double put runners on second and third with no outs for the Indians. After recording a strikeout Josh Bisonette hit a double to right-centerfield that that scored two more runs for the Indians, making it a 9-5 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh inning.

Colin Selby pitched the bottom seventh inning for the Indians. Selby pitched a one-two-three seventh inning to hold the 9-5 Indianapolis lead.

Pitching in the eight inning for the Mud Hens was Aneurys Zabala. Zabala retired the side in order recording two strikeouts. In the hold have of the eighth inning, Selby sat down the Mud Hens in order as well, making it a 9-5 game going into the ninth inning.

*Heath Hembree *entered the game for the Hens in the ninth inning. The Indians put runners on the corners with two outs but were unable to score remained 9-5 and the mud Hens we’re dow to their final three outs.

Daniel Zamora came into pitch the bottom of the ninth inning for the Indians, The Mud Hens put two runners on thanks to Justyn Henry-Malloy getting hit by a pitch and a Tyler Nevin single. Zamora was able to record the final out without letting the Mud Hens score and securing a 9-5 victory.
