Austin Cox of the Omaha Strom Chasers started the game on the mound. Cox entered the match-up with a 3.81 ERA and a 1-0 record on the season. Cox retired the top of the first inning in order to get the game started.

Brenan Hanifee started the game on the mound for the Mud Hens. Hanifee entered the game with a 4.72 ERA and an 0-2 record on the season. In the first inning after one out, the Storm Chasers were able to put two runners on board with a single from Nicky Lopez and a walk drawn by Samad Taylor. Hanifee was able to get the final two outs of the inning without allowing a run to score and keep the game scoreless after one.

The top of the second inning went fast as the Hens went down one-two-three. In the home half of the inning, Hanifee was able to get the first two batters in order but a two-out single from Brewer Hicklen prolonged the inning for the Storm Chasers, then Tucker Bradley roped a double into the left-center field gap to score the game first run and give Omaha a 1-0 lead after two.

The first hit of the game of the Mud Hen didn’t come until the top of the third inning after Jonathan Davis single to centerfield to lead off the inning. Cox was able to retire the next two batters before walking Justyn-Henry Malloy to put runners on first ad second with two outs. However, Cox was able to put out the next batter and keep the Hens off the board.

In the bottom of the inning, Hanifee recorded the first two outs in order before giving up a single to Tyler Gentry. Hanifee was able to record the last out via strikeout to end the third inning.

With one out in the top of the fourth inning, Tyler Nevin worked a walk to become the first baserunner of the inning for the Mud Hens. Austin Cox was able to get a groundball double-play to end the fourth inning.

Nick Loftin leadoff the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk but Hanifee was able to get a double play to clear the bases. Hanifee then retried the next batter of the Storm Chasers to end the inning.

With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Jermaine Palacios hit a double to become just the second Mud Hen to be in scoring position but once again Cox was able to retire the next batter and retire the side without giving up a run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Drew Waters worked a one-out walk to get on base for Omaha. Nicky Lopez then doubled to right field that allowed Waters to score all the way from first to grow the Storm Chaser lead. Samad Taylor then singled to score Lopez and make it a 3-0 Storm Chasers lead. This marked the end of Hanifee’s day who was replaced by Heath Hembree who recorded the final out to retire the side.

Evan Sisk entered the game out of the bullpen to start the sixth inning for the Storm Chasers. Sisk struck out two of the three batters he faced to retire the side in order.

Brendan White entered the game from the bullpen to pitch the bottom of the sixth inning for the Mud Hens. White was able to get the first two outs of the inning before giving up a single to Logan Porter. White stuck out the next batter to end the inning and keep the Storm Chasers off the board.

To start the top of the seventh inning, Dylan Coleman entered the game from the Storm Chasers’ bullpen. Andre Lipcius hit a leadoff single then Coleman bounced back getting two straight strikeouts. Jonathan Davis drew a walk to put runners on first and second with two outs but Coleman bounced back with yet another strikeout to end the inning.

Matt Wisler entered the game from the bullpen for the seventh inning. Wisler allowed a leadoff single but got a groundball double play to erase the leadoff single. Wisler then got the final batter to fly out and end the bottom of the seventh.

Brendon Davis lead off the top of the eighth inning and was hit by a pitch to start it off. Davis then advanced to second on a wild pitch to the next batter Justyn-Henry Malloy. Malloy was walked on four pitches and that marked the end of the line for Dylan Coleman. Colin Snider entered the game with the tying run at the plate with no outs. Parker Meadows lineout to centerfield which allowed Davis to advance to third with one out. Snider then gout a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning and keep the Mud Hens off the board in the eighth.

Miguel Diaz entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning from the bullpen for the Mud Hens. The Storm Chasers we’re able to load the bases with no outs. Nick Loftin then hit a two-RBI single to grow the Strom Chasers’ lead to 5-0. Logan Porter then hit an RBI single to left field and make it a 6-0 lead with still no outs in the inning. Brewer Hicklen then hit a three-run home run to expand the Storm Chasers’ lead. Diaz recorded one out, then was pulled after the offensive explosion from the Storm Chasers, and Brendan Bristo entered the game. The bases were loaded up again this time with two outs in the inning but Bristo was able to get out of it but not after the Storm Chasers took a 9-0 lead.

Nick Wittgren entered the game on the mound in the top of the ninth inning for the Strom Chasers. Wittgren was able to retire the side in order and secure the 9-0 victory over the Mud Hens.
