The SeaWolves lost a late lead after a second straight abbreviated starting pitching performance and lost in ten innings to Bowie, 10-8.
After Keider Montero lasted just two thirds of an inning in Erie’s previous game, Ty Madden met the same fate in this game. The first two batters of the game, Joseph Rosa and Coby Mayo homered consecutively against Madden. The right-hander gave way to Andrew Magno after throwing 29 pitches to six batters. Magno got the final out of the first inning to strand the bases loaded.
Andrew Navigato brought the game back even in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run against Justin Armbruester, who entered the game with the Eastern League’s best ERA. It was Navigato’s third straight game with a home run and extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Bowie tallied the go-ahead run in the fourth when Billy Cook scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Anthony Servideo. Servideo came around to score later in the inning on Cesar Prieto’s RBI single, giving Bowie a 4-2 lead.
Erie got a run back in the bottom of the fourth when Diego Rincones pounded a ball off the fence in left-center, scoring Jake Holton from first base.
In the fifth, the first three SeaWolves reached against Armbruester including an RBI single by Wenceel Perez to tie the game. Navigato followed with a two-run single to give Erie a 6-4 lead.
Gage Workman led off the sixth with a double and Luis Santana followed with a walk. Later in the frame, Cruz singled them both home to give Erie 8-4.
After Blake Holub tossed two scoreless frames, Angel De Jesus relieved him to begin the eighth. With one out, Colt Keith made a fielding error allowing Zach Watson to reach base. Then, Rosa blasted his second home run of the game to make it 8-6.
De Jesus stayed on for the ninth looking to close the game out. He walked Prieto to begin the inning. John Rhodes followed with a two-run homer to tie the game at eight.
Yaya Chentouf took over for the tenth after Erie went in order against Wandisson Charles in the bottom of the ninth. Chentouf walked Rosa and allowed a single to Mayo to load the bases with none out. Prieto then had his fourth hit of the game and tenth of the series through three games, a two-run single to give Bowie the 10-8 advantage.
Charles (2-1) worked a scoreless tenth to secure the win. Chentouf (2-2) took the loss.
