Toledo, OH The Toledo Mud Hens fell 6-2 to the Columbus Clippers after the eighth inning offensive surge for Columbus.

Eduardo Rodriguez made his first rehab start for the Toledo Mud Hens as he looks to work his way back up the starting rotation for the Detroit Tigers. E-Rod found himself on the Injured List after suffering an injury on his left index finger that effected the way he was able to grip the ball.

E-Rod locked down the first three innings of the game. Striking out three batters and keeping the Clippers off the board.

The scoring opened up in the top of the third inning after Michael Paperski roped home run over the right field wall to give the Hens a one run lead.

Justyn-Henry Malloy decided to join the home run party after launching a leadoff solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to give the Mud hens a 2-0 lead.

Eduardo Rodriguez day finished after getting one out in the fifth inning, pitching 4.1 strong innings of scoreless baseball to keep the Hens in front. Sam Clay replaced Rodriguez and finished the fifth inning by retiring the next two batters he faced in order.

This game was an old fashioned pitchers duel, both starters doing a an excellent job of getting outs and keeping the other team off the board, both bullpens locking down innings and keeping the game within range.

The Clippers jumped on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning after Oscar Gonzalez slugged a solo home run to cut the Mud Hens lead engulf and make it a 2-1 ball game.

After six innings of play the pitchers duel was at a 2-1 ball game.

The game reminded a 2-1 run till the bottom of the eighth inning where the game collapsed Mud Hens pitcher Blair Clavo after entering the game from the bullpen. Quickly in the eighth the Clippers put runners on first and third with no outs. Oscar Gonzalez continued to stay hot roping a double to tie the game put runners on second and third. Later in the inning, a wild pitch allowed another run to score making 3-2 clippers. The big blow in the inning came from Johnkensy Noel roped a two run double to make it a 6-2 ball game in the Clippers favor.

After the five run eighth inning, the Clippers went to Cade Smith for the final three outs. Smith retired the side in order and secured the 6-2 victory for the Clippers.
