Erie dropped a second straight to Altoona, losing on Saturday by a 4-2 score.

The SeaWolves got on the board first with a first-inning run. Trei Cruz led off with a walk. He advanced to second on a wild pitch by Altoona starter Omar Cruz and then stole third. Wenceel Perez scored him with a sacrifice fly.

Altoona tied it in the second against Lael Lockhart. Singles by Matt Fraizer and Tsung-Che Cheng placed runners at the corners with two out. Lockhart then made a throwing error on a pickoff throw to first base, allowing Fraizer to score the tying run. Lockhart only lasted two frames, throwing 53 total pitches over his two innings while allowing an unearned run on three hits, a walk, and five strikeouts.

RJ Petit replaced Lockhart. Petit allowed three straight hits in the third with two out, but Andrew Navigato threw out Mason Martin at home from right field on the third hit to end the inning and keep the game tied.

Jackson Glenn’s two-out, RBI double in the fourth against Petit gave Altoona a 2-1 lead.

In the sixth, Jake Holton connected on a long solo home run against Altoona’s Justin Meis to tie the game at two.

Altoona faced Blake Holub to begin the bottom of the sixth. Holub allowed consecutive singles to Jacob Gonzalez and Cheng to open the frame. Chavez Young’s sacrifice bunt advanced them. Then Glenn scored them on a two-run single.

Holub (0-3) took the loss for Erie. Meis (3-3) earned the win. Oliver Garcia completed his fifth save.

Erie looks to salvage a split of the series in the finale on Sunday. Sawyer Gipson-Long pitches for Erie against Braxton Ashcraft at 1:00 p.m.
