Buffalo, NY – The Toledo Mud Hens fall 8-2 in game two of the series in Buffalo against the Bisons.

Making a rehab start for the Bisons was former MLB all-star winner Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu is currently recovering from undergoing Tommy John surgery last season.

The offense started early for the Mud Hens. With one out in the top of the first inning, Justyn-Henry Malloy launched a solo home run over the left-center field wall to give the Hens an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, the Buffalo offense picked up right where they left off from the last game. Davis Schneider lined an RBI single to center field to tie the game at one. Later in the inning, with a runner on base, Jordan Luplow hit a two-run home run over the right field wall to put the Bisons up 3-1 after the first inning.

The Bisons extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning after a single to left field from Otto Lopez scored Cam Eden to make a 4-1 Buffalo lead.

Mud Hens starting pitcher Zach Logue finished his day pitching 3.1 innings and allowing four earned runs. Sam Clay entered the game from the bullpen to replace Logue and fished the fourth inning keeping the score at 4-1.

Ashton Goudeau entered the game from the bullpen to start the fifth inning for Toledo on the mound. Spencer Horwitz greeted Goudeau into the game by hitting a solo home run over the right field wall to make it 5-1 Bisons lead. Later in the inning with two outs, a ground ball hit by Steve Berman allowed a run to score due to a throwing error by Colt Keith which made it a 6-1 ball game.

Hyun Jin Ryu’s day finished after pitching five innings and only allowing one run. Replacing Ryu in the sixth inning was Thomas Hatch. With the former all-star now out of the game, Parker Meadows took the opportunity to put a run on the board and smacked a solo home run over the right-center field wall to make it a 6-2 ball game.

Braden Bristo entered the game in the sixth inning for the Toledo Mud Hens. The Bisons kept the hot bats going after a fielding error that allowed Otto Lopez to take first base. The next batter Spencer Horwitz slugged a double that scored Lopez to make a 7-2 Bisons lead. Jordan Luplow added to the Bisons’ lead with a single that scored Hortwitz making it an 8-2 lead after 6 innings.

Both teams were held scoreless from the seventh through ninth innings and the Bisons secured the 8-2 win over the Mud Hens.
