Toledo, OH The Toledo Mud Hens offense exploded for 13 runs on the road in a 13-2 victory over the Indianapolis Indians.

Sean Guenther made the start on the mound for the Mud hens and was greeted harshly in the first inning with one out by Henry Davis who hit a solo home run on a live drive to left field to give the Indians 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Cam Alldred was the starter on the mound for the Indianapolis Indians and he didn’t show signs of trouble until the third inning. In the top of the third inning, the Mud Hens were able to load the the bases with one out. Alldred got a big strikeout for the second out but then allowed a grand slam to Eddys Leonard to give the Hens a 4-1 lead.

In the top of fourth inning. the Mud Hens offense added a few more runs on the board. Donny Sands and Michael Papierski worked back-to-back walks to put runners on first and second with no outs. Nick Solak then singled on a ground ball to the second basemen, then a throwing error allowed Sands to score. Later in the inning with one out and runners on the corners, Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a sacrfrice fly to score Papierski and make it a 6-1 Mud Hens lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, Donny Sands roped a double a to get in scoring position with two-outs for Michael Papierski. Paperski then hit a broken bat single to right field that score Sans to give the Hens a 7-1 lead.

Just as it seemed the Mud Hens offense was slowing down, the top of the sixth inning proved entirely different. With one out, Indians relief pitcher Dauri Moreta walked the bases loaded. Ryan Kreidler then roped a double that got stuck on top of the wall for a ground-rule double to make it a 9-1 Mud Hens lead. With runners on second and third Justice Bigbie lined a single up the middle to score two more runs and the Hens went up 11-1 after six innings of play.

The Indians offense didn’t find another run until the bottom of the eighth inning. With runners on second and third, Canaan Smith-Njigba grounded out into an RBI that allowed the runner from third to score and the cut the Hens lead down to nine.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Mud Hens felt like they needed to add more to the already large lead. Donny Sands worked a walk, the Michael Papierski roped a double to score Sands and make it 12-2. With the runner on second base and one out, Nick Solak lined a single into center field to score the run and make it 13-2 Mud Hens.

Sean Guenther pitched the first two innings of the game for the Hens as Mud hens manager Anthony Iapoce used a bullpen game for Saturdays matchup. Blair Calvo, Rony Garcia, Sam Clay and Aneyures Zabala combined for 7 innings of one run baseball to keep the Indians offense at bay, and secure the 13-2 Saturday night win.
