Cal Ripken Jr. ties Lou Gehrig’s Iron Man Streak! Ripken plays in his 2,130th straight game

9/5/1995: Today marks the 35th anniversary of Cal Ripken’s record-breaking consecutive games played streak that broke Lou Gehrig’s mark of 2,130 and eventually landed at an incredible 2,632 games. The Gehrig record stood for 56 years and Ripken’s record still holds up today.
