Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila: ‘From Day 1, we emphasized winning’

For the first time since 2019, Detroit Tigers fans — if only about 8,000 of them — will be able to take in an Opening Day at Comerica Park on Thursday.
The sights of pristine grass meshed with the dirt infield is a sight many fans have seen with their own eyes since September of 2019. The sounds of the ball hitting the bat and base runners sliding, oh and another thing that’s coming back — yet, isn’t as welcoming … the cold weather.

Not really a shock that the early weeks of spring produce cold temps for the area but in a strange way, it’s the most fitting “welcome home” to baseball fans this coming week.
According to weather.com, the forecast for Opening Day is slated for a high of 36 degrees and high winds gusting between 20-30 miles per hour. So expect the Tigers and Indians, along with fans in the stands, to be bundled up all afternoon.
A sunny day at the ballpark may not come until Saturday or Sunday’s finale.
