Pirates-Tigers postponed; split DH Wed.

Detroit Tigers

With rain falling, snow on the radar and a gametime temperature predicted in the low 30s, the Pirates-Tigesr series opener at Comerica Park on Tuesday was postponed.

The teams will now participate in a split doubleheader on Wednesday. Michael Fulmer, Tuesday’s scheduled starter for Detroit, will now pitch Game 1, which begins at 2:10 p.m. ET. Spencer Turnbull will make his regularly scheduled start in Game 2, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m.

Tarik Skubal, who was slated to piggyback off Fulmer’s outing Tuesday, will still “pitch at some point [Wednesday],” manager A.J. Hinch said. For now, Skubal’s appearance is the best solution to accommodate Turnbull’s return as Detroit decides how the rotation will shake out down the road.

Both games on Wednesday will last seven innings and be televised by Bally Sports Detroit and available on MLB.TV.

All paid tickets from Tuesday’s game are valid for Game 1 on Wednesday, and no ticket exchange is necessary.
