FanPost Friday: Playing trade deadline GM

Bless You Boys

It’s that time of year, where every early move in a game, every dugout hug, every management mention of a player’s name has fans wondering if they’re about to see a beloved player get moved to a different team.

This season is no different, of course, as tight divisional races have some teams on the hunt to backfill injured player positions and bolster their bullpens as they prepare to head into the dog days of summer and the hunt for October.

Baseball writers do a lot of speculation this time of year, so we thought it might be fun to let you guys do some wishful trade imaginings. Right now the Tigers are in a unique situation. Sure, as of this writing they’re over 12 games back of first in the AL Central, and they’re unlikely to be real wild card contenders, but they’ve also been really good the last month or more, and are beginning to look like the team we’ve waited all rebuild for.

Al Avila has even made some comments about how the Tigers will approach trade season, so it seems unlikely they’ll do a tanking fire sale. Which begs the question: could they be buyers?

Play GM for a moment and head over to the FanPost section, select “New FanPost” on the left, and tell us which moves you would make if you had the power of the Tigers front office at your fingertips.
