LAKELAND, Fla. — Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene exited Friday’s spring training game with a foot injury.

He is awaiting the results of X-rays. The severity of his injury is unclear.

Facing New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole, Greene fouled a pitch off the inside part of his foot before hitting a sixth-pitch changeup for a triple to center field.

Greene stayed on the bases and came around to score, but after the third inning, he was removed from the game and limped down the right-field line with a trainer.

The 21-year-old is hitting .429 (9-for-21) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, four RBIs, three walks and six strikeouts in 11 games this spring. He has a .500 on-base percentage and 1.048 slugging percentage.

Greene is the Tigers’ No. 2 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and the No. 5 prospect in baseball.
