Detroit Tigers third baseman Isaac Paredes has only been on the big-league roster for five days.
And he is only 21 years old.
But the Tigers called him up Monday to leave his mark with a power bat, and he executed in the fourth inning Friday against the Cleveland Indians.
Paredes launched a 386-foot grand slam to left field for his first MLB home run to give the Tigers a 7-5 lead, capping a seven-run inning to erase a five-run deficit. His hit came on a 91.5 mph fastball from right-handed starter Adam Plutko.

He’s the first Tiger since Brennan Boesch on April 30, 2010 to hit a grand slam for his first career homer.
In his MLB debut Monday against the Chicago White Sox, Paredes earned his first hit in the majors on a two-RBI single. His home run Friday marks the second hit of his career — he now has six RBIs.

Through four minor-league seasons and 424 games, Paredes slashed .274/.355/.420 with 40 homers and 232 RBIs. He is ranked as the organization’s No. 6 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
The Tigers acquired Paredes at the 2017 trade deadline in a deal that sent closer Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila to the Chicago Cubs. Along with Paredes, Detroit added infielder Jeimer Candelario in the trade.
