DETROIT — The Tigers will remain at 97.1 on the FM dial in Detroit for the foreseeable future. The team and Entercom Broadcasting announced Tuesday morning that they’ve extended their radio broadcast contract, keeping WXYT-FM as the flagship station for the Tigers as well as the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.

The deal was announced as a multiyear radio broadcast partnership extension, with no additional terms available. Their previous extension was announced after the 2015 season, and the latest extension had been expected for a while. WXYT-FM, also known as 97.1 The Ticket, is the exclusive all-sports radio station in the Detroit market and serves as the radio home of the Tigers, Red Wings and Detroit Pistons.

“The Tigers and Red Wings are two of the best sports partners in the business, and the Ilitch organization has been a major part of the comeback of Detroit,” said Debbie Kenyon, Entercom Detroit’s senior vice president and market manager. “We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with these two local powerhouses and remain as the go-to home for both franchises’ fan bases, delivering year-round content that our listeners crave.”

The Tigers have been part of the soundtrack of summers in Michigan since 1927, including the voices of play-by-play broadcaster Dan Dickerson and analyst Jim Price together since 2003. The Tigers have been on WXYT for the past 20 years, first at AM 1270 with Hall of Famer Ernie Harwell on the call, then moving over to their sister station on FM in ’07.

Beyond game broadcasts, the latest deal includes entertainment and promotional opportunities across Entercom’s stations in Detroit, including WWJ-AM 950, ALT 98.7, 104.3 WOMC and 99.5 WYCD.
