Survey: Detroit Tigers’ Paws is second most popular mascot in baseball

Detroit Free Press

The Detroit Tigers’ Paws is the second most popular mascot in all of Major League Baseball, according to a new survey.

Who’s first?

That would be Clark the Cub of the Chicago Cubs.

And here’s the rest of the top five: Dinger of the Colorado Rockies is third most popular, T.C. of the Minnesota Twins ranks fourth and the Oriole Bird from the Baltimore Orioles is fifth.

But enough about them.

We’re all about Paws, the giant plush Bengal tiger who plays to the crowd during home games. According to his official MLB bio, the big cat enjoys reading, exercising, Wiffle ball, dancing on the Tiger dugout and cheering on our team.

Paws is 26 in human years. We’re unclear what that means in cat years, but considering his dance moves, the tiger appears to be quite spry.

His favorite songs are: “Eye of The Tiger” and “Take Me Out to The Ballgame.”

He’s afraid of bats.

He dislikes Ohio, which may make this news especially satisfying.
