Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros postponed due to rain, doubleheader Saturday

The Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros postponed Friday’s game scheduled for 7:10 p.m., because of rain at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Rainfall began Friday morning and continued throughout the afternoon.

The second matchup in the four-game series has been rescheduled for Saturday at 1:10 p.m. as part of a split doubleheader, with the nightcap at 6:10 p.m. Rain is forecast again for Saturday, which could cause further problems. This is the final time the Tigers and Astros meet this season.

Casey Mize is scheduled to start the first game, and Wily Peralta will start the second game.

In Thursday’s series opener, the Astros (47-28) bludgeoned the Tigers, 12-3. Houston has won 11 games in a row,; Detroit had its three-game winning streak snapped.

The Tigers (32-43) entered Friday in fourth place in the division, ahead of the Minnesota Twins, but 12½ games behind the American League Central-leading Chicago White Sox.
