Toledo Mud Hens 7, Columbus Clippers 3 (box)
The Hens powered up in the middle innings to sink the Clippers on Tuesday. Three straight singles started off the bottom of the third inning, with Jacob Robson’s bunt single scoring Cole Peterson. However, Derek Hill was gunned down trying to steal home, and Robson was caught then trying to take second, and it looked like they’d run themselves out of what should have been a big inning. That impression was confirmed when Isaac Paredes then launched a solo shot to left.
The Hens had plenty more to offer, however. Aderlin Rodriguez hit his 12th homer of the year in the fourth inning. Dylan Rosa was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth, followed by a walk to Robson. Back-to-back singles from Paredes and Renato Nuñez led to a three run inning, and the Hens never looked back. Jacob Robson added a solo shot to right in the sixth inning for emphasis.

Reading Fightin Phils 9, Erie SeaWolves 3 (box)
Joey Wentz’s outing did not go great and the bullpen ultimately let this one get away from them. Wentz tossed 4 2⁄3 innings, allowing four runs, including a pair of homers. The command is still a work in progress as you’d expect. The Phils were up 3-0 entering the bottom of the third, but a Dillon Dingler triple scored Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson to close to within a run. Unfortunately, that was as close as they’d come as Yaya Chentouf and Ruben Garcia leaked runs in the late innings. Riley Greene had four hits, including a pair of doubles, and made a nice catch against the wall in center field as well.

They were rained out in Peoria on Tuesday night. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday. Wednesday night’s first pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. ET.
Daytona Tortugas 3, Lakeland Flying Tigers 1 (box)
Starter Dario Gardea gave the Flygers a strong outing on Tuesday, but they couldn’t capitalize on their chances offensively. Gardea struck out six, blanking the Tortugas for four innings on three hits and no walks. Their only run came from a leadoff single in the sixth by Alvaro Gonzalez. Gonzalez moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a Sam McMillan ground out, and scored on another wild pitch. Gonzalez had two hits, while Gage Workman racked up three singles. Williander Moreno took the loss, allowing a pair of runs in the eighth inning.
