Toledo Mud Hens 5, Columbus Clippers 1 (box)
Another outstanding outing from Mark Leiter Jr. headlined this one as the Mud Hens wrapped up the International League’s Midwest Division. Leiter spun seven innings of one-run ball, absolutely dominating an admittedly poor Clippers’ lineup with 11 strikeouts. Isaac Paredes started the scoring for the second straight night with a solo shot to left in the second inning. Kody Clemens walked and stole second base, riding home on a double to left from Ryan Kreidler. Brady Policelli walked, and Daz Cameron came through with a single to score Kreidler. Paredes sparked things again in the third, drawing a one-out walk before Aderlin Rodriguez crushed his 27th homer of the year. The offense was quiet the rest of the way, as Leiter had things well in hand.

Erie SeaWolves 3, Richmond Flying Squirrels 0 (box)
Daniel Cabrera launched a solo home run in the first inning, and Beau Brieske didn’t need any more help in this one. The right-hander tossed six scoreless innings without a walk, allowing just four hits to four strikeouts. Chavez Fernander took it to the house with three innings of one-hit ball, striking out four. Cabrera’s shot was his third since joining the SeaWolves and led off the game. Dillon Dingler and Kerry Carpenter singled, and Andre Lipcius lifted a fly ball to left to allow Dingler to score from third. Cabrera knocked in the final run of the game as well, singling in Jon Rosoff in the seventh after the SeaWolves’ catcher doubled.

Lansing Lugnuts 8, West Michigan Whitecaps 1 (box)
The Whitecaps’ bullpen took a bit of a beating in this one, and the offense couldn’t get anything going. After starter Brendan White allowed a run in the bottom of the first, the ‘Caps came back to tie it in the second. Gage Workman led off with an infield single and with one out, Eliezer Alfonzo walked and Workman stole third on the pitch. Austin Schultz singled Workman home, but the rally died there. There wouldn’t really be another chance. White allowed two runs in the third, and the Lugnuts poured it on against the bullpen to run away with this one.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 4, Bradenton Marauders 3 (F/10)(box)
A well played game came down the 10th inning, when Nick Quintana doubled home Ben Malgeri to walk this one off. Starter Carlos Pena pitched into the sixth, allowing three earned runs. He left with the game tied, as the Flygers scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth inning. Alvaro Gonzalez’s RBI double in the second opened the scoring for Lakeland. After Pena allowed two runs in the top of the third, they came back with an RBI single from Quintana in the bottom of the inning. In the fourth, Kingston Liniak reached on an error, stole second base, and scored on an Esney Chacon single. Neither team managed much of a threat the rest of the way. Gabriel Seqeuira took over in the top of the 10th and did a nice job preventing Bradenton from getting the runner on second home. On the second pitch of the bottom of the 10th, Quintana drilled a fly ball deep to center for a double, and Malgeri raced around to score the game winner.
