LAKELAND, Fla. — First baseman Spencer Torkelson and outfielder Riley Greene headline the Detroit Tigers‘ non-roster invitees for MLB spring training, which officially begins Sunday.
The Tigers are bringing 17 minor-league players to big-league camp, part of the team’s 55-player spring training roster. The other players are members of the 40-man roster.
The list of non-roster invitees also includes shortstop Ryan Kreidler, catcher Dillon Dingler, right-hander Beau Brieske, righty Garrett Hill, righty Ty Madden and righty Dylan Smith. The Tigers selected Madden (No. 32 overall) and Smith (No. 74) in the 2021 MLB draft.
Following five days of workouts, the Grapefruit League schedule begins.
The Tigers start with a home game Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida, followed by a trip to Bradenton on Saturday for a clash with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Spring training ends April 5 in Tampa against the New York Yankees.

Infielders (4): Ryan Kreidler, Josh Lester, Jack Lopez, Spencer Torkelson.
Outfielders (2): Riley Greene, Jacob Robson.
