Game notes: Skubal was tagged early and often in his first start of the season. The Chicago White Sox scored five runs (four earned) in four innings vs. Skubal. Just three of the 20 batters Skubal faced struck out. He pitched four times vs. Kansas City last season, going 1-2. His best start vs. the Royals was June 16 when he allowed three runs and six hits in six innings and stuck out seven.

Keller pitched six scoreless innings Saturday vs. the Cleveland Guardians, giving up just two hits and striking out five. He has started eight times (12 total appearances) vs. the Tigers. Keller has a 3.61 ERA in 52⅓ innings. Last year, he went 1-1 vs. Detroit and was knocked around in his start June 14 to the tune of eight hits and seven runs (six earned) over five innings in a 10-3 Tigers win.

The teams play again at 4:10 p.m. Saturday and 2:10 p.m. Sunday.
