GAME RECAP: After last night’s game was postponed, The Toledo Mud Hens continued their series today with the Omaha Storm Chasers. After a short rain delay, the Mud Hens were looking to tally their sixth straight win. Nivaldo Rodriguez took the mound for the Hens, seeking his second win of the season.

Toledo was in an unfamiliar situation, as the Omaha Storm Chasers struck first with a two-run homer to begin the ballgame. Then, in the second inning, the Storm Chasers hit two more home runs, to drive in a total of four runs, with an RBI double to follow. The Storm Chasers lead 7-0, and they were not done there. The Storm Chasers would obtain three more runs in the fourth inning, increasing their lead, with a score of 10-0.

As the Mud Hens trailed big, that did not stop the fight that they had in them. Ryan Lavarnway hit a double to center field, to score Jamie Westbrook, putting Toledo on the board. The next batter, John Valente hit an RBI single to score Lavarnway. Then, Zack Short hit his tenth double of the season, to score John Valente. Last, Kody Clemens increased his hitting streak to eleven games, with an RBI single to score Zack Short. The big four run inning from the Hens cut the deficit, as the score became 10-4, in favor of the Storm Chasers.

In the top of the sixth, Josh Lester led off the inning, hitting his eighth double of the season. This led to Ryan Lavarnway snagging his second RBI of the game, with a ground ball to score Lester. This cut the lead in half, as Toledo only trailed 10-5. However, the Storm Chasers would once again hit another two-run blast, to increase their lead. The Storm Chasers would snap the Mud Hens winning streak, with a score of 12-5.

NOTABLE BATTER: In this series, Zack Short is 8-16 (.500), with two doubles, three home runs, and nine RBIs. Zack Short currently leads the team in runs (17), doubles (10), and home runs (4, tied with three). Short also has drove in fourteen RBIs. The leadoff batter will look to continue putting up big numbers, as the season goes on.

NEXT UP: The Mud Hens will look to close the series with the Omaha Storm Chasers, tomorrow. First pitch is set to begin at 3:05pm ET (2:05pm CT).
