If the lineup is struggling, it always helps to simply not allow the other team to score.

Shane Bieber and the bullpen combined to throw a shutout while the offensive woes continued, and Guardians beat the Detroit Tigers 2-0 Tuesday night at Progressive Field.

Bieber tossed six scoreless innings, scattering seven hits and walking one to go with seven strikeouts. James Karinchak, Sam Hentges, Trevor Stephan and Emmanuel Clase combined to close out the final three innings.

Jose Ramirez knocked in the first run of the night with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. In the eighth, Amed Rosario added an RBI triple to right field to score Will Brennan. It was the sixth time in the last nine games the Guardians have scored two or fewer runs.

But this time, with Bieber holding the Tigers at bay, it was enough for a win.
