VIDEO: Miguel Cabrera hits the first homer of the 2021 season!

Bless You Boys

Miguel Cabrera is trying to make history this year as the first player in MLB history to reach 3,000 career hits and 500 home runs in the same season. We’re only one inning in, but he’s off to a great start.

Cabrera’s two-run shot — one in which he didn’t see leave the park because the snow is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal — is the 488th of his career, and hit number 2,687. He should reach both markers if he stays healthy, which has not been a given for him in recent years.

But if he keeps hitting for opposite field power against pitchers like the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner? He might get there sooner than we think.
