Game notes: The Tigers have dropped three in row and nine out of their last 10, losing to the Oakland Athletics, 5-3, on Thursday.
Maybe the Tigers’ league-worst offense can get rolling vs. Lyles. Robbie Grossman has two career home runs in eight at-bats vs. him. Austin Meadows has three hits in six at-bats against Lyles, including a home run. Tucker Barnhart, Miguel Cabrera and Harold Castro each have multiple hits off Lyles, too.
Eduardo Rodriguez has been great against Baltimore in his career. His 12 wins are his most against any one team and his 3.11 ERA meshes nicely with 126 strikeouts in 118⅔ innings. Last time out, he fanned eight and allowed just one run in a season-high 6⅔ innings vs. the Houston Astros.
The teams finish the series with a 4:10 p.m. start Saturday and a 1:40 p.m. start Sunday.
