The Detroit Tigers and New York Mets postponed Tuesday’s game, scheduled for 6:40 p.m., because of inclement weather at Comerica Park in Detroit. There will be a split doubleheader Wednesday for the first two games of the three-game series.
The Tigers have postponed four games at Comerica Park this season.
The split doubleheader begins with Game 1 at 1:40 p.m., followed by Game 2 at 6:40 p.m.
SHAWN WINDSOR: Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer still going strong, a stinging reminder of how good Tigers were

For the Mets, left-hander Joey Lucchesi is scheduled to start Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Right-hander Max Scherzer will start Game 2 of the doubleheader, and righty Justin Verlander will start Thursday’s series finale.
Both Verlander and Scherzer pitched for the Tigers earlier in their careers.
The Tigers, scheduled to play nine games in eight days, will start left-hander Joey Wentz in Game 1 of the doubleheader and right-hander Michael Lorenzen in Game 2. Lefty Eduardo Rodriguez will start Thursday’s series finale.
The teams can add a 27th man to their 26-man rosters for the doubleheader.
The Tigers previously postponed Friday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, as well as back-to-back games April 16 against the San Francisco Giants and April 17 against the Cleveland Guardians.
All paid tickets from Tuesday’s postponed game are valid for Game 1 of Wednesday’s split doubleheader. Tickets from the regularly scheduled 6:40 p.m. game Wednesday are valid for Game 2.
